Saturday morning came and I received this gorgeous vintage tea dress that was such a score on ebay! It's in pristine condition and fits perfectly. Perfect for summer and light, with a pretty flower print with varying shades of teal and blue, punctuated with purple flowers.
I had to try it on and work out what accessories would match it. I teamed it with my fave leather wedges (Next summer season 2008) and a leather brown belt with butterfly buckle that I got in a vintage shop. I do't think it works : ( Thinking I should try a lighter coloured belt like white or tan, same with the shoes. And maybe a skinny belt rather than wide?
What do you think?

That's a pretty dress :) I have never ordered clothes off ebay - since I'm worried about sizing lol The dress definitely seems to flatter you. Yes try some lighter coloured accessories to go with it.
ReplyDeleteHow about trying a skinny white belt to offset the soft colours? And maybe white accessories, or even off-white accessories to stop looking so matchy-matchy. Or you could pick a colour from the palette of the dress and use accessories of that colour?
ReplyDeleteHope you'll find a way to wear the dress - it looks gorgeous on you!

Such a pretty dress! Love the print! & it looks great on you! =D
ReplyDeletethank you all!
ReplyDeleteIrmiana - I like the sound of a white belt but what kind of coloured shoes to wear?
Yes, I think I should pick out some of the blue or purple hues from the dress and use it in accessories - perhaps even silver? Thanks laydeez!
OK I know it's going to sound crazy but I think a black lather jacket would look great with this dress too. Maybe because it's a very different fashion style.
ReplyDeleteAbout the shoes and accessories... if you could find ballet shoes (I have in mind the ones that you tie up on your ankle with a bow or just a knot) with similar colours than the ones on the dress that would be just perfect.
moodeve - hm, good question.. maybe a pair of dark tan gladiator sandals, or even silver ones? I think that it's such a statement dress, that the only accessory needed, really, is a bag, and keep the makeup fresh.
ReplyDeletebtw, I've added you to my blogerati on my blog - hope you don't mind!
